In the past hundred years, this team has won the World Cup four times (1954, 1974, 1990, 2014) and had highest Elo ranking in a total of six years, with a current ranking of 6th. From 1945 to 1990, due to the existence of the German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany, there were two national teams.
